Working in an OR can be stressful. Every day can bring new problems. Vera DeBlasis and Brian Lewis have worked in surgery for their entire career. Vera has been a nurse in the operating room arena for over 25 years and has worked in several Level One trauma centers. Brian, an Orthopedic First Assist, has worked in orthopedic surgery for over 17 years.
One of their greatest frustrations has been the ongoing problem of how to contain fluid on the floor. Anyone who routinely works in surgery has tried multiple methods of dealing with the problem. Over the years, they tried to solve the "fluid on the floor" problem with blankets and towels, or even other products that offered a partial solution using wall suction. Vera and Brian are veteran OR professionals. They knew there had to be a better way. That is what brought them together with the team at BASS Medical, Inc.
Our BASS Medical team talked to Vera and Brian, and then, other professionals like them, across the country. They also told us that dealing with wet OR suites has been a daily frustration for them for many years. They've seen first hand, the problems caused for doctors, the liability issues, the cleanliness issues, and the general aggravation endured by the OR staff.
After an extensive research and development process, the BASS was developed and patents were applied for. In early testing, the response from surgeons and OR professionals was tremendous. The BASS Medical team knew that it had a unique product that would finally solve the "fluid on the floor" problem cost-effectively and easily. Vera and Brian helped identify a need. BASS Medical solved the problem.
Vera and Brian have continued the "real-world" testing on the BASS system. The people on the BASS design team, as well as Vera and Brian take pride in the fact that the OR suite can now be just a little less stressful. The development of the BASS has finally provided a solution for the "fluid on the floor" problem, because we listened to two people who knew there just had to be a better way.
The BASS, developed in conjunction with OR professionals, for OR professionals.
